Jaguars Split Opening Scrimmage with Delaware Hayes
Hilliard Bradley baseball kicked off the 2026 pre-season at home on Saturday, splitting a pair of scrimmage games against Delaware Hayes. Varsity fell in a tight 7-6 contest while the JV squad pulled out a 9-8 win. The Jaguars battled more than just the Pacers, though, as wind gusts up to 85 mph ripped across the state, making for a wild day of baseball on The Island.
With OCC Conference play set for April 6 against Upper Arlington, Saturday’s scrimmage was all about preparation. Coaches rotated players throughout both games, getting arms work on the mound, bats in the box, and gloves in the field. In the early stages of the pre-season, the scoreboard matters far less than the reps, and the Jaguars got plenty of them.
Both games came down to the wire, which gave the coaching staff a chance to see how players respond in competitive, pressure situations. That kind of experience is invaluable heading into the regular season.
The Jaguars return to scrimmage action Wednesday, March 18, at Dublin Scioto as they continue building toward their spring break trip and OCC Conference play.
